A hamstring injury will keep Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray out of action against the New York Jets on Sunday, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.
DeMarco Murray will not play vs. Jets in Week 3
Murray suffered a hamstring injury in practice that will keep him out in Week 3.

Murray was listed as questionable after tweaking his hamstring in practice and the first Sunday morning rumblings of him not playing came from Howard Eskin of FOX 29 in Philadelphia, and he was listed as inactive shortly thereafter. Murray attempted to warm up on Sunday morning, but his hamstring reportedly didn’t respond well to the action.
Through the first two weeks of the season, Murray has just 11 yards rushing on 21 carries after signing a five-year, $40 million contract with the Eagles in the offseason. He was the NFL's leading rusher in 2014, racking up 1,845 rushing yards, 416 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns as a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
With Murray out, the Eagles will start Ryan Mathews at running back and will give Darren Sproles increased touches. According to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, that likely means more outside running for the Eagles.
The Eagles are 0-2 and have the NFL’s fewest rushing yards, and face the 2-0 Jets on Sunday.
