Andrew Luck took a beating last season, and things haven't changed this year. It is finally starting to take a toll. The Indianapolis Colts quarterback sat out much of the portion of Wednesday's practice that's open to the media, and coach Chuck Pagano said afterward that Luck is dealing with a shoulder injury sustained in Sunday's come-from-behind win over Tennessee.

Luck is listed as day-to-day, but Pagano said he has "supreme confidence" that he will play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Luck has never missed an NFL snap due to injury, and has never even been listed on a Colts' injury report.

Luck has struggled badly all season, throwing a league-high seven interceptions against just five touchdown passes, but Pagano moved quickly Wednesday to quash any rumors that his quarterback has been dealing with physical problems all season, saying that he was "absolutely not" playing hurt in losses to the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets.

When Luck talked to the media on Monday, he would only admit to the bumps and bruises that are a part of NFL life.

“Football is a physical game, right, we all know that,” he said, via the Indy Star. “You wake up Monday morning or Sunday night after the game on the plane ride home, you feel bumps and bruises. Some games are less physical than others, and that’s sort of the nature of it. This past one certainly was physical.”

On Wednesday, he reiterated that he’s not planning to take any time off.

The Colts are better off than most teams if they have to start their backup quarterback -- not many teams have one that has led a team to a Super Bowl -- but Matt Hasselbeck is 40 years old and hasn’t started a game since 2012.
