NFL playoffs 2016 live stream: How to watch Patriots vs. Broncos online
Here we go again.
Peyton Manning and Tom Brady will face off in the playoffs for the fifth time in their careers, with the overall record tied 2-2 across their four meetings. This could be the last time these two quarterbacks battle each other for a spot in the Super Bowl, should the 39-year-old Manning decide to retire after the season.
After missing almost half the regular season, Manning found himself back under center in Week 17. Backup Brock Osweiler was sidelined after his third turnover against the San Diego Chargers, and Manning came in to help get the Broncos the win and clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Last week, the veteran had a quiet game against the Steelers to advance to the AFC Championship, throwing for 222 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions.
Manning had little help downfield from his receivers, who dropped a considerable number of passes, and after the game gave due respect to the defense for keeping the Steelers' potent offense contained. The all-time great passer will try to keep his teammates better focused against the Patriots, while the world turns its attention to Manning and Brady.
By comparison, the postseason is going much better for the New England quarterback, who went 28 for 42 for 302 yards and had three total touchdowns in the Divisional round. Brady welcomed back wideout Julian Edelman, who put up 100 receiving yards and 11 rushing yards on the day.
Home-field advantage was a big factor in each of the four games last weekend, and Manning is hoping the streak continues in Denver. It seemed almost inevitable that the season would come down to two of the league’s most veteran and successful quarterbacks. With only one game left before the Super Bowl, one will soon find himself watching from home.
