Pete Carroll chewed out the refs about uncalled penalties in New Orleans

Seattle earned 11 penalty flags on Sunday. New Orleans only got caught twice.

With just a minute left in Week 8’s showdown between Seattle and New Orleans, the Seahawks had been flagged 11 times compared to just once for the Saints. Pete Carroll made sure the game’s officials knew he hasn’t happy about the disparity.

The Super Bowl winning head coach spent much of his fourth quarter screaming at referees after Seattle penalties helped keep the home team in front during a pivotal NFC showdown. Carroll made sure to get right in the face of linesman James Coleman after a controversial no-call late in the fourth quarter.

Carroll wasn’t the only Seahawk to voice his displeasure with the officials. The ever-outspoken Richard Sherman made sure his frustrations were known after a probable offensive pass interference went uncalled in the fourth quarter of a 22-20 game.

That no-call helped the Saints drive for a field goal that pushed their lead to 25-20 with two minutes left. Those insurance points proved fatal for the Seahawks.

Russell Wilson drove Seattle 58 yards to the New Orleans 10-yard line, but instead of kicking a chip shot field goal for the win, Carroll had to find a way into the end zone. Wilson found Jermaine Kearse in the back of the end zone as time expired, but the wideout couldn’t get both feet down in bounds. That incomplete pass sealed the win for the 3-4 Saints.
