Titans trade No. 1 overall pick in 2016 NFL Draft to the Rams

Los Angeles is reportedly interested in Carson Wentz.

The Los Angeles Rams have acquired the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft from the Titans. The trade was first reported by NFL Media's Mike Silver and Ian Rapoport and confirmed by the Titans.

In return, Tennessee is getting the Rams’ first-round pick, which is No. 15 overall, plus two second-round picks (43 and 45 overall) and a third-round pick (76), plus a 2017 first and third. The Titans are sending a 2016 fourth and sixth-round pick back to the Rams.

The Rams, who currently have Nick Foles as the top quarterback on their depth chart, are reportedly interested in drafting a signal caller with the first pick. They held private workouts for California quarterback Jared Goff and North Dakota quarterback Carson Wentz over the past few weeks, according to NFL Media's Mike Silver. The Rams are very high on Wentz, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora and the Los Angeles' Times' Sam Farmer.

The Titans had another offer on the table, according to CBS Sports’ La Canfora, but elected to accept the Rams’ proposal. La Canofra adds that Tennessee would have selected left tackle Laremy Tunsil if they had held on to the No. 1 pick and that the goal is to now target a left tackle at No. 15.

The Rams, who moved to L.A. this offseason, are coming off a 7-9 season and haven’t posted a winning record since 2003.

The trade also comes four years after the Rams' decision to send the No. 2 overall pick to Washington and let Daniel Snyder select Robert Griffin III, in exchange for a bounty of draft picks.

This is the first time since 2004, when the Giants acquired the No. 1 pick from the Chargers in order to draft Eli Manning, that the first pick has been traded.
