The Eagles gave the Browns a ton of picks to move up to No. 2 in the draft. Philly gave up their eighth overall pick, a third-round pick, a fourth-round pick, next year's first-round pick and a second-round pick in 2018 in exchange for the second pick and a throw-in fourth-rounder. So what exactly do they plan to do with the No. 2 pick? They're either taking Carson Wentz or Jared Goff. And it's probably going to be Wentz.
Not everyone likes the Eagles-Browns trade, especially Sam Bradford
Will he and his sleeves end up elsewhere?
Whoever they draft, they're going to be happy with the Rams' leftover pizza. Wait, what? Yeah, Eagles GM Howie Roseman compared the two QBs to pizza toppings. More likely than not, the Eagles know exactly who the Rams are going to pick, which means they know exactly who they're going to pick. Still ... the Eagles don't seem sure what they're doing trading for the No. 2 pick.
Sam Bradford is mad about the Eagles trading up to draft a quarterback. He was supposed to be the long-term answer and now he isn't. You can't blame the Eagles for recognizing that, and you can't blame Bradford for feeling this way. I hear the Broncos need a quarterback, Sam. Roseman said that they will not trade Sam Bradford ... yet. But it seems hard to believe that they might not change their mind at some point.
What do the Browns do now? Hopefully it's better than what they've done with extra draft picks acquired in past trades (Brandon Weeden, anyone?). With the eighth pick, they could consider WR Laquon Treadwell or hope that a pass rusher like Joey Bosa or DeForest Buckner falls there. Another intriguing option would be Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott, if he makes it that far. The Browns were the real winners in the trade.
Trading up for a quarterback is rarely a good move, and now two teams have done it in this draft.
EVERYONE WANTS JOSH NORMAN
The Panthers made Josh Norman a free agent. Expecting a long, distracting holdout, the Panthers pulled the franchise tag, making the cornerback a very hot commodity, and a very pricey one. The 49ers, Bucs, Dolphins and Steelers are among the eight or nine teams inquiring about Norman. The Niners have $52 million in cap space to work with too. Expect the bidding war to get wild.
AIR RAID QUARTERBACKS: Quarterbacks from an Air Raid offensive system in college don’t have a very good track record in the NFL. Will Goff be different?
THE NEXT BEST QB: Paxton Lynch big winner of NFL draft trades. Memphis QB Paxton Lynch could be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Rams and Eagles trading into the top two slots of the 2016 NFL Draft.
HOW ‘BOUT THEM COWBOYS! Cowboys’ DeMarcus Lawrence is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. That’s not good because the Cowboys are already hurting for pass rushers.
THE KAEPERNICK TRADE: Adam Schefter says Colin Kaepernick and 49ers are headed toward divorce. He added that there’s “only one logical landing spot” which means Denver.
J.J. WATT HAS SOMETHING TO TELL YOU: J.J. Watt has a message for the haters. He has some thoughts about social media, too.
THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE DRAFT: Dan Kadar released his top 300 big board on Thursday morning.
