BROWNS NOT DONE DEALING? The Browns could try to make multiple trades in the first round. Reports of the Browns trying to move down from the eighth pick just won’t stop. They could be looking to get into the middle part of the round with their eyes on Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell or Michigan State OT Jack Conklin. What makes this scenario really interesting is that they could then try to move up from the 32nd pick, which is the second round this year, to late first and draft ... Connor Cook.
NFL Draft trade talk is heating up
The Browns might be considering a series of moves in the first round of the draft. The Chiefs are looking up, and the Colts and Lions covet the same player. Here’s what we’re hearing from the rumor mill with a day to go.

Cook seems like the kind of quarterback previous Browns regimes would have drafted.
LIONS VS. COLTS FOR KELLY: The Lions really want to draft Alabama center Ryan Kelly. However, the Colts want to draft Kelly, too. Detroit has the 16th pick, two spots ahead of Indianapolis. Could this perhaps entice a trade?
CHIEFS LOOKING UP: Are the Chiefs trying to trade up for a receiver? That’s what one report says, but with the 28th pick, they’d still have a shot at some of the first-tier players at that position. A better theory is that the Chiefs might be looking to trade down. After all, they don’t have a third-round pick, which would make it hard to trade up too far.
SAD SAM BRADFORD: Sam Bradford is upset because the Eagles didn’t tell them they were going to trade up for a quarterback. More Bradford drama. Finding a new home isn’t going to be easy. The disgruntled quarterback doesn’t want to play for Chip Kelly. In fact, the Broncos might be the only team interested in Bradford. Adam Schefter’s idea was for the Broncos to deal a fourth-round pick and a player to the Eagles for Bradford? We’ll see.
KAEPERNICK TRADE TALK: Trent Baalke tells ESPN reporter “it’s possible” Colin Kaepernick could be traded this week. It’s also possible that he won’t be traded.
EVEN MORE DRAFT TALK!
- At least we know who the Rams are going to draft. Kind of. With less than 48 hours to the Los Angeles Rams kicking off the 2016 NFL Draft, it sounds like Cal QB Jared Goff will be the first pick.
- NFL teams should treat quarterbacks like the fragile baby birds that they are. The Rams and the Eagles were the latest teams to make a substantial investment in drafting a quarterback. They shouldn’t be in any hurry to push them out of the nest to let them fend for themselves.
- 29 players who could be first-round surprises in the 2016 NFL Draft. One team’s reach is probably sitting at the top of another team’s draft board. Danny Kelly looks at a few of the players who could prove mock drafts wrong.
- How the NFL Draft’s compensatory picks work. The best teams in the NFL routinely acquire extra draft picks by letting their free agents sign with other teams. Here’s how compensatory draft pick works.
- Taylor Decker could be the next Jack Hanna, but he’d rather be the next Orlando Pace. The left tackle from Ohio State is trying to prepare for a long, successful NFL career. He could always fall back on zoo-keeping, too.
- Chris Jones could whup ass in the NFL, if he stops loafing. The defensive lineman out of Mississippi State is one of the most talented players in the NFL Draft, but retired NFL defensive end Stephen White thinks Jones is one of the most frustrating, too. Check out all of Stephen’s player breakdowns here.
