The first round of the 2016 NFL Draft is over, and it might have been the strangest opening night yet!
The weirdest 1st round in the history of the NFL Draft
From start to finish, we saw one of the strangest nights in the history of the NFL Draft.
Let’s start with the LAREMY TUNSIL SAGA.
It started when Tunsil's Twitter account posted a video of him smoking a bong minutes before the NFL Draft. Somebody was trying to sabotage him, and he slipped down the board. Finally, the Dolphins drafted him at No. 13, and it might end up being the biggest steal of the draft. This pick is universally loved. And what do the Dolphins plan to do with Tunsil since their two tackle spots are already claimed? They're going to make him their starting guard.
And it didn't end with that Twitter video. After bizarre Instagram posts, Tunsil seems to agree he took money from coaches. Two of the No. 13 pick's social media accounts appear to have been hacked on draft night, potentially costing him money and putting more NCAA attention on his college.
THE BRONCOS GOT THEIR QB
The Broncos FINALLY got their quarterback. Denver traded with Seattle to move up from the 31st pick to the 26th spot to grab Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch. The Cowboys tried to trade back into the first to get Lynch, too. But the Broncos had the better offer.
THAT’S IT FOR KAEPERNICK & BRADFORD TRADE TALK
Colin Kaepernick trade saga comes to a close with Broncos drafting Paxton Lynch. After numerous reports connecting him to the Broncos, the 49ers quarterback will likely stick around and play under Chip Kelly.
That's it for the Bradford trade too. Welp. Sam Bradford has stopped taking Doug Pederson’s phone calls. This is getting really sad.
So far, so good for the Eagles and Carson Wentz. Philly got their quarterback, and nobody's booing him or throwing things at him yet, so that's a good start!
MYLES JACK IS STILL AVAILABLE
Chiefs’ GM John Dorsey is surprised Myles Jack is still on the board. Jack won’t be available for long.
HOW ‘BOUT THEM COWBOYS?
The Cowboys drafted Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth pick. I think it's a great pick. NFC East defenses are going to have a helluva time stopping him, especially with Dallas' offensive line. A lot of other people agree that Dallas was the big winner when they got Elliott.
MORE SURPRISES!
The Browns were big winners ... kind of. The Browns made a deal with the Titans to move down to the 15th spot and collect more picks. They used their first-rounder on Baylor receiver Corey Coleman, which was a bit of a surprise, especially since he was the first receiver off the board.
Karl Joseph’s “infectious” personality, demeanor was clincher for Raiders. Safeties ended up being prized picks in the first round, which was another surprising turn in this draft.
RAMS LOVE GOFF
Everyone seems to be happy with the Rams and Jared Goff too. Fans and pundits like the pick.
ANOTHER MOCK DRAFT!
Second round mock draft! We’ll see even more tackles and ends come off the board today, but where do Connor Cook and Myles Jack land? SB Nation’s draft expert Dan Kadar shares his predictions.
