Cam Newton lent his shoes to Oprah’s boyfriend

Stedman Graham called Newton early Sunday morning with a wardrobe emergency.

Cam Newton has a passion for helping out kids. His foundation is dedicated to enhancing the lives of underprivileged youth and he's made it a habit of giving away footballs to young fans in the stands on a weekly basis.

But his charitable endeavors also extend to the billionaire class.

Oprah Winfrey gave the commencement address at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. Sunday, but her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, forgot one of his shoes. According to the Charlotte Observer’s Theoden Janes, Newton came to the rescue.

Newton appears to be friendly with Graham, an educator and entrepreneur who’s dated Winfrey for three decades. At a charitable event last year, in which Newton entertained nearly 800 middle schoolers for his foundation’s annual School Pride Day, he was spotted chatting with Graham.

Newton’s football giveaways have brought great joy to many children over the years. But he’s also willing to go to great lengths to save a friend from embarrassment -- even if it involves taking the shoes off his feet.
