It’s looking like a bounce-back year for NFL Draft busts

A lot of first-round picks we’ve casually written off are having a great preseason.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

If this preseason, or the two weeks of it we've played so far, is any indication, it's going to be a very good year for first-round picks whose star has faded over the last few years for various reasons. In Cleveland, RG3 is making highlight reel plays again. Jadeveon Clowney, the first overall pick in 2014, finally looked like guy who became a legend for destroying that Michigan running back way back when.

Even Christian Ponder made our all-star list for the second week of the preseason.

BROWNS OFFENSE: Breaking down the Browns offense with RG3. Here's a great look at Cleveland's second offensive series from Friday night, the one that ended with a 50-yard touchdown throw to Terrelle Pryor.

CLOWNEY COMIN'! Jadeveon Clowney is mauling guys and looks like a No. 1 pick. The Texans' defensive end is doing some damage out there against the Saints.

SECOND COMING: Don't get carried away by the Dak Prescott hype train just yet. It has been an amazing start for the Cowboys rookie, but try to remember that it is just a start.

REVISED INJURY REPORT: Competition Committee approves revisions to the injury report. Teams won’t be able to designate players as “probable” anymore, and the “questionable” and “doubtful” designations have been redefined to make your fantasy lineup decisions even harder.

GREEN SPEAKS: Steelers TE Ladarius Green breaks silence on headaches, ankle and potential retirement. Fans haven't heard much from Ladarius Green, but he has been a topic of conversation across the black and gold landscape. The free agent acquisition broke his silence Saturday after practice.

BAD THINGS HAPPENING TO THE BILLS: The Buffalo Bills are losing training camp. After declaring the Bills had "won the offseason," Rex Ryan may have to spend the rest of the year batting down questions about his job security.

LUCKY GUY: Andrew Luck is back! The general made his preseason debut this week.

IF YOU CAN’T SAY SOMETHING NICE: The Giants head coach couldn’t find any positives in a preseason loss to the Bills. Ben McAdoo has had by far his hardest week on the job so far. He didn’t make much of an effort to hide it in speaking to reporters after a preseason loss to Buffalo.

DR. FEELGOOD: Shad Khan is lip syncing to Motley Crue in this NFL commercial.

EAGLES SIGN TULLOCH: Stephen Tulloch, Eagles agree to terms on contract. The Birds have a new linebacker.

PATRIOT CASUALTIES: Dion Lewis needs another knee surgery. The Patriots running back reportedly had a complication from his ACL surgery and needs a follow-up procedure. There's no timetable for his return. Sebastian Vollmer is headed for the injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. Right guard Shaq Mason has a broken hand.

PRESEASON ACTION: The 49ers and Broncos fumbled 3 times in less than a minute. Mark Sanchez and Mike Davis collectively fumbled three times to end the first half.
