Brett Favre, Tony Dungy and six others will be officially added to the Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Brett Favre and Tony Dungy headline the class that features six players, one coach and one owner. The others who will join the list of all-time greats in Canton, Ohio, are Orlando Pace, Marvin Harrison, Kevin Greene, Ken Stabler, Dick Stanfel and Edward DeBartolo Jr.
Favre is the most prevalent of the group on the all-time leaderboards and once held just about every passing record in the books until Peyton Manning came along to topple most of his marks. Now six years removed from his time in the NFL, the passer famous for his toughness and gunslinger mentality is still the leader in pass attempts and completions, as well as interceptions and sacks.
Stabler and Stanfel are the two members of the class who will be inducted posthumously. Stabler died of colon cancer in July of last year, and his autopsy revealed that the 1974 NFL MVP was suffering from CTE. Stanfel also died last year, at the age of 87.
Here are a few facts about the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s enshrinement ceremony:
-
Unlike the Baseball Hall of Fame, players do not go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as members of a certain team. In baseball, plaques feature players wearing a cap of one team, but the busts in football list each team equally underneath.
That means that the New York Jets will be in the same size font as the Green Bay Packers underneath Favre’s bust when it’s revealed on Saturday.
- The first enshrinement was in 1963, less than four years before Super Bowl I. The first 17 inductees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame included Bronko Nagurski, Jim Thorpe, Red Grange, Sammy Baugh and others who made their name during football's infancy.
-
Induction on Saturday and the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday are far from the only festivities surrounding the weekend. There's an entire Enshrinement Festival, complete with a parade in July and a queen pageant in May.
Alleya Tavares, 18, earned the title of 2016 Pro Football Enshrinement Festival Queen a few months ago.
- While California, Texas and Florida dominate the high school recruiting rankings and the Olympic rosters, none are the top state in football Hall of Famers:
- Dungy is the 24th coach in the Hall of Fame and DeBartolo Jr. is the 20th "contributor." The six others will up the total of Hall of Fame players to 271.
