After a week of turmoil and mystery in Dallas, Dez Bryant won't be active when the Cowboys take on the San Francisco 49ers Sunday. The star wideout briefly exited last week's game against the Chicago Bears with a knee injury, but came back in time to catch a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. He was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his knee after undergoing an MRI on Wednesday.

Bryant took an MRI on his injured leg Wednesday after showing up late to the Cowboys facility Tuesday. According to the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys fined him an undisclosed amount for missing team meetings and his scheduled appointment with the team’s medical staff.
Head coach Jason Garrett explained Bryant’s behavior on his star receiver’s reluctance to hear bad news.
“After the game on Sunday night he got some information about his knee and he suspected that it was a serious injury,” Garrett told reporters. “He’s a very passionate guy, like we’ve talked about, and he really thought he was going to get some bad news when he got the MRI Monday morning. So like some of us do in life, at times, he avoided it. He didn’t come in and take care of his business on Monday or Tuesday and then he came in on Wednesday and took care of that part of it.”
Thursday’s news isn’t official, and Garrett has yet to give up hope on his star wideout. However, it appears the Cowboys will be without one of their key offensive weapons against the 49ers.
Bryant only caught 31 passes in nine games last season while he was nursing a foot injury. This fall, he's caught 11 passes from Dak Prescott in three games for the 2-1 Cowboys.
