Can Jay Ajayi lead the Dolphins to a win in his hometown?

Jay Cutler and the Dolphins offense has to wake up from their early-season slumber, which included a 20-6 loss to the Jets. The Dolphins haven’t scored more than 19 points in a single game all season. The offense should lean on Jay Ajayi whose season debut of 122 yards also culminated in the Dolphins opening their season with a win. The defense has been middling to start the season but will have to hope Ajayi returning to his hometown of London will reinvigorate him.
The Saints want to establish their first winning streak of the season with a win over the Dolphins. The New Orleans defense played its best game of the young season holding the Panthers to 13 points. The Saints will need to replicate that performance if they want to leave London with a win. The Saint’s offense has only been slightly above average to start the season, but they’ll need it to be prolific to overcome their defense. Teams that start 1-3 rarely make the postseason, so the Saints know they have to win if they have any dreams of playing in January.

Saints vs. Dolphins News:
The Dolphins are perilously thin at linebacker and ecstatic to welcome back Rey Maualuga and Lawrence Timmons:
The Lawrence Timmons saga is over and the linebacker returned to practice yesterday. Timmons was suspended indefinitely, but it ended up being only one week. The Dolphins linebacking unit already looks improved with Timmons back in the lineup. Rey Maualuga also returned to practice as the linebacker has been dealing with hamstring injury and conditioning.
Head coach Adam Gase describes his own team’s offense as “garbage”:
Where is the identity? Where is the passion? Where is the creative play calling and precision execution? All of it seems to be missing. The offensive line was getting beat on Sunday, and running back Jay Ajayi - who must be the identity of the offense - struggled because of it. The offense just never found a rhythm and struggled against everything
The Saints offense looks to protect Drew Brees and allow him to throw the ball:
Drew Brees is completing just under 69% of his passes for 867 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions. Just as important, he has been sacked just three times, even while missing injured starting tackles Terron Armstead and Zach Strief. Rookie Ryan Ramczyk has played well at right tackle in Strief’s absence, and Andrus Peat held up well at left tackle against Carolina’s talented defensive line last Sunday.
Can the Saints defense repeat last week’s exceptional performance?
Other than coverage, the defense really hasn’t played that badly. There has been more pressure on the quarterback than in the past and the run defense has been fine. If the secondary can correct some of its mistakes, then this unit could be a good one.
Saints vs. Dolphins prediction:
Each team has its flaws, but the Saints defense hasn’t shown it can perform well on a regular basis. The offense has also been much less potent than in years past. The Dolphins defense has been consistently mediocre throughout the season. Their offense has been rancid to start the season, but I suspect a heavy dose of Ajayi can fix that. The Dolphins should topple the Saints in a high-scoring affair.
This one has our SB Nation experts baffled though: Four took the Saints to win and four took the Dolphins. OddsShark’s computer took the Saints to break the tie.
