It’s 2 1/2 years before the 2020 Summer Olympics, so gymnast Simone Biles has some down time. On Sunday, she kept busy by adding a new line to her already-stuffed resume — Houston Texans cheerleader.
Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles is the Texans’ newest cheerleader (for one week)
Biles, who grew up in Houston, is out here supporting her local team, even in a rough year.

Biles was named an honorary cheerleader for the team’s Week 14 contest against the San Francisco 49ers. The five-time Olympic medalist took the the field Sunday for a one-time gig with her hometown team. The 20 year old fit right in with her new teammates, working through a lineup of choreographed routines on the Texans’ sideline.
If her tweets are any indication, Biles appeared pretty excited about the honor. Unfortunately, her appearance may have been the highlight of an otherwise grim day for the Texans. Houston lost starting quarterback Tom Savage to injury in the second quarter and trailed the 2-10 49ers 13-9 at halftime.
On the plus side, one of the greatest athletes of her generation looked like a natural in her first pro cheerleading appearance.
So at least Houston’s got that going for it.
