Jameis Winston’s bad decision led to an amazing fat guy touchdown for the Packers

Dean Lowry, all 296 pounds of him, scored a 62-yard touchdown against the Bucs.

Jameis Winston was in trouble. After slipping on the Lambeau Field turf, he found himself firmly in the grip of a pair of Packers defenders and was staring at a drive-killing sack. With one last-gasp decision, he spotted a target downfield and uncorked a pass a split second before he hit the ground.

The ball went a full yard backward and into the waiting arms of Green Bay defensive end Dean Lowry, who returned it 62 yards for a spellbinding fat guy touchdown.

Lowry scored the first touchdown of his NFL career by scooping up Winston’s failed pass -- which would be classified as a fumble. The second-year, 6’6, 296-pound defensive end then rumbled untouched all the way to the end zone to give the Packers a 17-7 lead late in the second quarter of an important home game.

What this means for the Packers: Green Bay is hanging around on the periphery of the playoff race, which makes Sunday’s game a must-win. Aaron Rodgers practiced with the team this week for the first time since breaking his collarbone, and he could return as early as Dec. 17 against the Panthers. With Brett Hundley shaky behind center, the Packers need all the points they can get — and Lowry provided an unexpected source Sunday.

What this means for Jameis Winston: Well...

But, with only one turnover so far, he’s technically under his career average so far.
