Takkarist McKinley, drafted 26th by the Falcons out of UCLA, had a whirlwind of a draft night.
New Falcon Takk McKinley gave an emotional speech about his grandma, complete with F-bomb
He may have cursed, but it was really inspirational.
First, he reached the podium with a picture of his grandmother, to whom he dedicated his drafting. He promised her he would reach the NFL one day and get out of their hometown in California, and Thursday night, his promise was fulfilled.
McKinley was so full of emotion, he let go a few choice words.
“I told her before she passed away I was going to live my dream, I was going to go D-1, I was going to get out of Richmond, I was going to get out of Oakland. I was going to go to the NFL. I made that promise to her, man. 30 seconds later she passed away. And this is who I do it for.”
“It means everything, man. It means everything. I made a promise to her..... I was going to live my dreams to play in the NFL. And I’m here man. I completed the promise. It means every-fucking-thing to me. Excuse my language! Man, FINE ME LATER MAN.”
FINE ME LATER. It’s so quotable! Not to mention, I definitely teared up a bit listening about McKinley’s grandmother.
I don’t know about you all, but I’m very excited to watch McKinley during his NFL career.
Congratulations, Takk! We know your grandmother is very proud of you.
