The Buffalo Bills picked Zay Jones 37th overall in the NFL draft on Friday night. When the pick came in, cameras cut to Jones watching the draft on TV. This was his shirt:

Maybe Jones knew where he was going.
The shirt depicts a bunch of O.J. Simpsons — in a brigade of white Bronco SUVs — chasing a police car. It’s a reimagining of the slow-speed chase Simpson and friend Al Cowlings led officers on in 1994, before Simpson was arrested on charges of double-murder. Simpson, of course, made his professional name with the Bills.

Jones played four college seasons at East Carolina. The lightly recruited son of a longtime NFLer, Jones rewrote the FBS career and single-season record books. He thinks he’s got the best hands in this draft class. He was the fourth receiver taken, not counting Ohio State H-back Curtis Samuel’s selection by the Carolina Panthers.
The O.J. slow-speed chase, like other elements of his murder trial, has come into renewed public focus in the last year. ESPN did a harrowing 30 for 30 on the story, which drew wide audiences and critical acclaim. An FX drama based on the case, The People v. O.J. Simpson, starred Cuba Gooding Jr. and was also popular.
Simpson was acquitted in his murder trial. He’s currently in prison after several convictions connected to a 2007 armed robbery in Las Vegas. Simpson is eligible for parole this year.
