The Steelers drafted USC receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster at the end of the second round of the NFL draft on Friday. Smith-Schuster was watching the draft at Newport Beach in California, and he decided to celebrate by taking a dip in the Pacific Ocean. In full clothes! We should all strive to be as happy about something as JuJu is right here.

Pittsburgh has bodies of water, too.

Smith-Schuster is an exciting pick for the Steelers, according to me, a Steelers fan who follows college football and loves to watch him. He’s a smooth, physical receiver who reminds me of Antonio Brown for his skills and how much fun he looks like he’s having.
His swim in the Pacific raises another important point about his fit with the Steelers. Pittsburgh is not especially like California, but it does have lots of bodies of water. Smith-Schuster’s new home stadium, Heinz Field, is a stone’s throw from the confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers.
If he’s willing to go swimming in any of those rivers, he’ll be a Pittsburgh legend. But nobody does that, because they’re cold and don’t look like appetizing swimming water.
Thus, Smith-Schuster’s clearest path to Pittsburgh lore is probably just to catch lots of touchdowns. I like his chances on that front.
