The second round of the NFL draft got underway along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia on Friday night. League commissioner Roger Goodell is famously a target of fans’ ire, and he regularly gets booed while stepping to the podium on draft nights. Goodell had a plan — and maybe it was tongue in cheek — to circumvent this problem for himself on Friday. He brought along a local legend.
Roger Goodell brought out Philly legend Ron Jaworski as a shield and got booed anyway
He wasn’t getting off that easy.

Goodell walked to the draft stage alongside former Eagles quarterback and current Guy On TV Who Really Loves Philadelphia Ron Jaworski. He was booed anyway; the presence of Jaworski did little to quell the people’s outburst toward the commish.
Jaworski did his best to be a loyal hype man, while Goodell took the fans’ voracious jeering in stride as well as he could have. This was fine.
Goodell basically told the Philadelphians to bring it.
Look at Jaworski getting his work in.
The fans were not in the mood to let up on Goodell, but they were cool with Jaworski. His being on stage at least helped the atmosphere a bit.
Jaworski spoke for a little bit, mostly caping for Philadelphia and speaking with pride about the “100,000 people” who packed the draft site. I’m skeptical of this total.
It does look like a pretty fun scene, albeit not one with that money people. But the ones who were there made sure their boos were heard.
