The All-Pro was spotted on crutches on the Carolina sideline.

Greg Olsen injured his right foot in the first half of the Carolina Panthers’ game against the Buffalo Bills and his return is in question. He was originally labeled as “probable” to return, but NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports his day is done.

Olsen’s prognosis got worse after the half. The All-Pro tight end was spotted using crutches and a walking boot on the sideline. After being evaluated by Carolina’s medical staff, he confirmed he’d suffered a broken foot and will miss significant time this fall.

What this means for Greg Olsen: Non-contact injuries are never good, but Olsen has been impressively durable in his 11-year career. He hasn’t missed a game since 2007, but this injury could take him out of the Carolina lineup for the foreseeable future.

What this means for the Panthers: Carolina worked hard to revamp its offense with playmakers this offseason, but losing a dependable receiver like Olsen will be a difficult obstacle to overcome. The veteran tight end is coming off three straight 1,000-yard seasons and has led the team in receiving in each of those years. Losing him means players like Kelvin Benjamin and Russell Shepard will have to step up.
