The Minnesota Vikings have exorcised their playoff demons late in their Divisional Round showdown with the New Orleans Saints. Two years after Blair Walsh missed a 27-yard field goal that would have locked down the team’s first postseason win since the 2009 season, Kai Forbath calmly drilled a 53-yard field goal that gave Minnesota a 23-21 lead with just 1:34 left in the game.
The Saints nearly destroyed the Vikings’ postseason aspirations with a late field goal
Kicking almost equates to heartbreak for the Vikings.

And it almost didn’t matter.
The Saints came storming back, capping off a clutch 51-yard drive with a Wil Lutz 43-yard field goal that gave New Orleans a one-point lead with just 25 seconds left in the game.
But as it turns out, those 25 seconds were more than enough. Case Keenum hit Stefon Diggs for a 61-yard touchdown, and the Vikings escaped with a 29-24 victory — a victory that didn’t end up coming down to a heartbreaking field goal.
