Super Bowl Sunday includes a lot of quality television, even in the hours leading up to the big game. This year, as the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots suit up for a Super Bowl rematch, game-day analysis will flood the airwaves, as will really cute puppies and kittens available for adoption.
Super Bowl 2018 TV schedule for Sunday leading up to Eagles vs. Patriots
From pregame performances to animal bowl games, Super Bowl Sunday’s TV coverage does not disappoint.
Pregame coverage starts at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday on the NFL Network, followed by ESPN’s coverage beginning at 10 a.m., and the network host NBC starting its day-long event at 11 a.m.
With NBC featuring performances by Sting (featuring Shaggy) and Darius Rucker, as well as the singing of “America the Beautiful” and the national anthem ahead of kickoff, if you’re looking for anything other than actual Super Bowl analysis, this should be your landing spot.
On the NFL Network, Rich Eisen will host a special 8.5-hour-long NFL GameDay Morning and will be joined by Kurt Warner, Michael Irvin, Steve Mariucci, and surprise guests throughout the program. Similarly (although significantly shorter), ESPN will air Postseason NFL Countdown beginning at 10 a.m. ET and hosted by Suzy Kolber. The four-hour special will include guest analysis and hot takes from Adam Schefter, Randy Moss, Rex Ryan, and many others.
Throughout the afternoon, other Super Bowl-related events that have gained popularity over the years (cue the Puppy Bowl) will be aired on various other TV networks. In addition to the Puppy Bowl (Animal Planet), other animal bowl games include the Kitten Bowl (Hallmark Channel) and a competition worthy of 1,000 puns, the Fish Bowl (National Geographic).
This is the fifth edition of the Kitten Bowl, and it comes along with some big names. Four-time Pro Bowl QB Boomer Esiason serves as the Feline Football League Commissioner (seriously) and will make the play-by-play calls throughout the event — which will also be emceed by Dean Cain and Alison Sweeney.
Be it game-day analysis or watching Kittens run around with a tiny football, there are plenty of Super Bowl-related shows to keep you busy until the Eagles and Patriots take the field for Super Bowl 52.
