Pink battled the flu before singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl

And she did great!

Pop singer Pink sang the national anthem on Sunday night before Super Bowl 52 between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, the singer was battling the flu ahead of singing theStar-Spangled Banner.” On Saturday, she posted on Instagram about getting sick, saying she got the flu from her children.

As for the anthem itself, she did incredibly. Not bad for someone who’s had the flu the last few days.

You could tell she took something out of her mouth at the beginning, though.

She performed in a concert on Friday night in Minneapolis, where her voice was feeling the effects of the flu:

“I’m not going to sound like (crap) all night because you guys are going to help me,” she said. “We’re going to rock the (expletive) out and have a good time.”

As she began to sing “Beautiful Trauma” — from her recent album of the same name — she quickly stopped her band and told the crowd, “I can’t do it.”

“I hate this,” she said. “I can’t do that song. I’m sorry.”

Obviously, getting the flu days before singing the national anthem before the Super Bowl isn’t ideal, but Pink can powered through the performance, and it turned out great.
