Nate Burleson delivered a fiery speech for the ‘the no-days off, lunch pail packin’, hard-hat wearin’, blue collar hands that helped build this country’ people of Detroit at the NFL Draft

Put this video in Canton.

Nate Burleson really wanted to make his announcement of the Lions’ 43rd overall pick count. He played the last four years of his career with the Lions.

He approached the podium in an Axel Foley jacket from Beverley Hills Cop, and that’s when the fun began:

He went on to say how Dallas is known as the home of America’s Team, but mentioned that he believes Detroit to be the home of America’s heartbeat.

“This pick right here is dedicated to the men and women of Michigan,” he said. “I’m talking about the no-days off, lunch pail packin’, hard-hat wearin’, blue collar hands that helped build this country.”

That pick was Auburn’s Kerryon Johnson, a first-team All-SEC running back.

It should be noted taht Burleson is also the same person who got into a car wreck trying to save a pizza in 2013, where he broke his arm in two places. Luckily things weren’t worse, and we were able to enjoy his energetic speech.

It’s clear that he’s taking everything he does quite seriously now, and that’s good to see. He could totally be a politician in the state of Michigan with that kind of spirit and recognition for its citizens.
