Hello. New Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert started riding unicycles around age 12 in South Dakota. Hi there.
Hi, the Eagles’ new tight end is a unicyclist
A unicyclist!

The folks in Britton saw Goedert perform plenty growing up. He was a state champion swimmer at age 7 and could just as easily water ski as dominate the low post in basketball. But in Britton, Dallas’ family is best known for riding unicycles. All four of Mary’s sisters ride, as do many of her nephews. Dallas even learned to ride a 6-foot unicycle, which he said requires starting off the back of a truck. In performing in wisps of South Dakota towns like Lake City, Ledgerwood and Havana, he claims the 6-foot unicycle created buzz in the crowds.
“That one gets a lot of praise at the parades,” he said. “They love to see that one.”
So can he still ride a 6-foot unicycle now that’s he’s growing into his massive 260-pound frame?
“It’s like riding a bike,” he said while a smile.
Look at him go:
“There was one day when I was looking through the JC Penney catalog for Christmas for what I wanted and I saw a unicycle and thought that would be really cool to try. I told my mom I wanted a unicycle and she said my grandpa actually has a bunch of them sitting in his shop so we went out there and got one. My mom and my sisters used to ride them all the time so she brought one out and just hopped right on and started riding it, and I’m like, ‘Man, I want to be able to do that.’ So I just got on and started practicing. My family has been riding in parades on the Fourth of July probably since I was 8 years old.”
Philly likes to have fun, so he’ll probably fit right in.
