Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston is facing a lawsuit filed by the Uber driver who accused him of groping her in March of 2016. Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reported that the woman filed her lawsuit on Tuesday.

The driver alleges in the lawsuit that Winston grabbed her crotch while waiting in a restaurant drive-thru. She is seeking damages for “emotional distress as well as future therapy expenses” as well as “exemplary or punitive damages to punish and deter such conduct.”

Winston did not face criminal charges for the incident. An investigation by the NFL eight months ago found that Winston did touch the Uber driver “in an inappropriate and sexual manner” without consent. He received a three-game suspension for the start of the 2018 season. He has served two games of the suspension.

Winston issued a statement in June, after his suspension was handed down by the league, apologizing for the incident.

“She is unimpressed by his continued lack of honesty or awareness into his behavior,” the woman’s attorney told the Tampa Bay Times. “Maybe a more direct financial penalty will get his attention. He needs to learn from this and have some genuine insight or pay the penalty.

”She knows that she might be just a speed bump for him in his football career, but she is not going to be a small one.”

The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court in Arizona.

It was also revealed in the report of the lawsuit that Winston appears to be representing himself. He has fired both his agent and his lawyer, according to John Clune, the Uber driver’s attorney (who also represented the former Florida State student who accused Winston of rape in 2012).
