Gambling season is finally upon us, so let’s get to my favorite plays of the week.
4 NFL bets worth your money in Week 1, plus a college bonus!
Retired NFL lineman and gambling man Geoff Schwartz has a five tips to get you ready for Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season.

It’s important to grab the best number possible when gambling on any contest and that’s especially true in Week 1 of the NFL season. The lines have been up for months now, so I grabbed a few that are different than what they have now.
I grabbed this line at +3.5 for the Falcons, and it’s gone way down from there which makes me feel great about my pick. The Eagles are going with Nick Foles at quarterback. We have to remember that Foles is a backup quarterback. What he did last season doesn’t mean anything for 2018. He’s generally looked awful in the preseason, which isn’t surprising because he’s a QB who needs to be schemed up for success.
My love for the Falcons this season is well documented. They are extremely talented and won’t be intimidated going to the Linc tonight. Feels like the Falcons could win this game outright.
Dallas Cowboys @ Carolina Panthers, under 42.5
Got this line at 44 a few weeks ago when both offensive lines started to get beat the heck up. I’m betting the under here for that reason. Two offensive lines that are banged up against good defensive lines. Plus, the Panthers have a new offensive coordinator which could mean a slow start on offense.
When I was going through the lines for this week, this one caught my attention. I’m not sure the Colts are better than the Bengals at any position outside of QB, and Andrew Luck hasn’t played in forever. This feels like a great opportunity to grab a more talented team getting points in the Bengals.
The Giants are totally loaded this season. They revamped their offensive line, have multiple weapons on the outside, drafted Saquon Barkley and have Eli Manning back. They have a monster run defense and two Pro Bowlers in the back end. The Jaguars do have the most talented defense in the NFL, but they also have Blake Bortles, who’s been way under .500 against the spread vs. NFC opponents on the road. So give me the Giants getting three points at home.
One college game for y’all.
Oklahoma -30 (or wherever this line ends up) vs UCLA
UCLA is a wreck. They played 11 true freshman last week in a home loss to Cincinnati. Now they head to Norman where Oklahoma is fresh off an ass whopping of FAU. I don’t see how this game isn’t a 56-7 win by the Sooners. Don’t be scared of the big line, take it. Embrace it. Bet it.
