Mike McDaniel’s expletive-laden Hard Knocks rant showed Dolphins how to take accountability

Mike McDaniel’s accountability is what we all want from our leaders.

With the Miami Dolphins set to take on the Dallas Cowboys in a colossal Week 16 NFL matchup, Miami is looking to put the finishing touches on a division crown and potential one seed in head coach Mike McDaniel’s second season as head coach. A major accomplishment for a coach in his second year, but through Hard Knocks, NFL fans were treated to a great look at why McDaniel is so beloved by his players.

After their stunning loss to the Tennessee Titans, McDaniel brought in his players for a meeting and talked about the mistakes the entire team made in their loss. When he said entire team, he MEANT entire team, including himself first.

It’s not every day that you hear a coach in a meeting say “I called some trash plays”, but it’s really refreshing to hear. McDaniel taking accountability for times he fell short in a game instead of blaming the players or telling them to play better is really cool to do up front. However, the finish is what really stands out. What makes him a “f****** man” is not blinking at the mistakes, but also not avoiding it. Acknowledging the faults, then making sure they don’t happen again is something everyone needs to hear at every level of the sport.

The McDaniel impact can be found both on and off the field for Miami, and it’s helped turn the Dolphins into an AFC powerhouse.
