Anthony Edwards and Justin Jefferson recreate the iconic KG/Moss cover

This is so good.

The vibes in Minnesota are off the charts, and the swagger is back in the Twin Cities. Justin Jefferson and Anthony Edwards are two of the biggest stars in their respective sports — now, ESPN The Magazine is giving us a heaping helping of nostalgia.

Justin Jefferson donning a throwback Timberwolves jersey while Ant rocks a Vikings fit is a direct ode to when Randy Moss and Kevin Garnett took an almost identical photo back in 2000 for Sports Illustrated For Kids.

This has been a long-time coming for Jefferson. Three years ago he said in an interview that he wanted to re-do the Moss/KG photo with Edwards, and now they’ve done precisely that. It’s part of the new era of success in Minnesota, but also a sobering reminder of how teams in the state squandered two absolute legends and let them leave in their prime. Moss was traded to the Oakland Raiders in 2004, with KG following behind when he was dealt to Boston in 2007.

The hope will be that these teams can see success, win championships, and keep these two stars in Minnesota forever.
