Randy Moss honored by Vikings, Justin Jefferson on ‘Monday Night Football’

Justin Jefferson pulled in a 7-yard touchdown pass from Sam Darnold late in the first quarter against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, extending the Minnesota Vikings’ early lead over their NFC North rivals to 10-0.

Rather than his well-known Griddy celebration, the Vikings’ talented WR had a more emotional, and specific, message. One dedicated to former Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss:

“We love you Randy. That’s for you.”

The moment was part of the Vikings’ tribute to their former receiver, who they also honored before the game:

Earlier this season Moss took a leave of absence from his ESPN duties, and later revealed that he had undergone a surgical procedure to remove a cancer located in a bile duct between his pancreas and his liver. “So I did have cancer,” Moss said on social media. “They found it in the bile duct right between the pancreas and the liver, and that the cancer was sitting right outside the bile duct.”

The Hall of Famer then revealed that the surgery he had undergone was a Whipple procedure, and outlined his recovery.

“It was a trying week, a trying time. So once again, I thank you all,” he said. “Thank you and your team nursing me back to health and getting me back here with my family.”

Moss also expressed relief while telling his supporters that his condition is improving.

“By the grace of God, my liver started acting up,” he said. “I didn’t think I would ever be in a position like this, as healthy as I thought I was.”

After the tributes on Monday Night Football, the former receiver reached out with a simple message on social media:

Get well soon, Randy.
