The Philadelphia Eagles can clinch the NFC East with a win today against the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium.

But they might will be without quarterback Jalen Hurts for the rest of the game.

With the Eagles driving midway through the second quarter the Philadelphia quarterback took off on a designed run. Hurts lunged forward near the first down marker, but not only did the Eagles quarterback come up short, but he went to the sideline following the play.

This is the play in question:

Hurts was replaced by backup Kenny Pickett, who finished the drive with a touchdown pass to A.J. Brown:

The Philadelphia starting quarterback was evaluated for a concussion and was seen on the sideline putting his helmet back on. However, he remained sidelined as Pickett and company finished the drive with a touchdown to spot the Eagles to an early 14-0 lead. Following that touchdown, Hurts headed to the Philadelphia locker room:

The team provided this update, noting that Hurts was being evaluated for a concussion:

With Philadelphia off to a strong start, it remains to be seen if Hurts will return to the game.

Later in the first half Philadelphia head of security Dom DiSandro returned to the sideline, while the QB remained in the locker room:

Hurts was then ruled out by the team:

In three brief appearances this season, Pickett entered Sunday’s game having completed 1-of-3 passes on the season. While he connected with Brown on a touchdown pass on his first drive Sunday against Washington, his second ended with an interception that gave the Commanders, trailing 14-0, new life.
