Super Bowl squares recap: First quarter results for Eagles-Chiefs in Super Bowl 59
It’s time for Super Bowl squares results. We’ve got the first quarter numbers for Super Bowl 59.

The game opened with a pair of punts as neither of the teams could get going on their opening drive. Both teams earned a first down, but then had to punt after three more unsuccessful plays.
The Eagles then put together an impressive seven-play, 69-yard drive to get on the board. One of the key plays saw Jalen Hurts throw an incompletion intended for Dallas Goedert, but Trent McDuffie was called for a personal foul on a helmet-to-helmet hit. It probably should not have been called, but with no instant replay for personal fouls, it was not surprising to see it called. Hurts then found Jahan Dotson for a 28-yard gain and a tush push later gave the Eagles their lead.
Philly’s defense has impressed against KC’s offense with two punts forced and allowed only one first down through the first 15 minutes of the game. At the end of the first quarter, the Eagles are at the Chiefs 30-yard line following an offsides penalty and have a 2nd and 14.
Historically, double zeroes has been the most common combination of numbers at the end of the first quarter. That makes sense when you think of scores like 10-0, 0-0, and 10-10. In the past two Chiefs Super Bowls, the first quarter was 0-0 last year against the 49ers and 7-7 the year before against the Eagles.
