Von Miller believes Texas A&M is a magnetic place

I fully get how this sounds.

Texas A&M has a reputation on a national, frankly international, level that can sometimes put it at the center of jokes.

My point here today is not to push back on any of these but to offer perspective. I started my academic life at Texas A&M University and the power of the place, there is a true power to it, helped mold me into the person that I have become. I would at no point in my life ever want to undo that experience for me.

Let me be clear in saying that obviously tons of universities have reputations for molding individuals through the process of higher learning. I’d put A&M up against any of them, though. The power of the Aggie Network is a real thing and something that I still experience even today. Recently it led me to one of the greatest athletes in A&M history in Von Miller and we spoke about the magnetic power of College Station.

You see, Von helped put A&M at the center of the college football universe where it currently resides. He revitalized the school’s “Wrecking Crew” reputation on defense during the 2010 season and helped the Aggies pick up huge wins over Oklahoma and Nebraska. All of that helped lead to the Denver Broncos selecting him second overall in the 2011 NFL Draft a few months later, launching a career that would (so far) result in multiple Super Bowl titles and Super Bowl 50 MVP honors.

Recently Von has taken networking to the next level as he is a part of the group that helped organize the Sack Summit for the NFL’s top pass-rushing athletes (to say the least). Cane’s is a big partner of the Summit as they had a food truck on-site to serve players and guests following workouts. This was the third year that Cane’s was affiliated with the Sack Summit.

I’d never speak for Von, but I imagine that ability to bring people together all really came into focus for him while on the campus of Texas A&M. I know that it did for me.
