Ondrej Pavelec spoke with Atlanta Journal Consititution writer Chris Vivlamore on Saturday about his condition and what happened early Friday evening in the Atlanta Thrashers' win over the Washington Capitals.
Thrashers Goalie Ondrej Pavelec: ‘I Couldn’t Feel My Legs In The Ambulance’
Pavelec, who remains in the hospital told Vivlamore in an exclusive interview:
“I would like to tell you [what happened]. The last thing I remember was the lights going on after the [national] anthem. I don’t remember anything until I woke up in the ambulance and saw the doctor looking at me.”
Pavelec told the AJC that when he woke up in an ambulance he couldn’t feel his legs, and he couldn’t remember anything from the brief time he played in the game -- 2:25 in the first period -- or getting carted off the ice.
While Pavelec says that he feels better now, he will undergo a series of tests to determine what actually happened; he told the AJC he hopes to leave the hospital on Sunday.
