In the first period of last night's game between the Penguins and the New York Rangers, this happened:
VIDEO: Sidney Crosby Slew Foots Ryan Callahan And Brandon Dubinsky Doesn’t Like It
Your speakers aren't broken. In fact, when Sidney Crosby commits a foul, the whole world stops making noise. We all stop breathing. It's a fact, read a book.
During the first intermission of the game, Rangers forward Brandon Dubinsky sat down with Al Trautwig of MSG for one of those weird, "hey, I'm in the middle of a game here" interviews. After the jump, video of that exchange.
Crosby defended himself after the game, via Chris Botta of NHL FanHouse.
“How many penalty minutes do I have this year”? asked the Pittsburgh captain, who has 15. “Show me all those dirty plays. It’s a battle and he falls. He’s holding me going up ice and I’m trying to push him off. Is it that calculated? I’m going to the net. If I tripped him, I tripped him.”
As a Flyers fan and a neutral observer here, I can easily say, Sid, that any “holding” by Callahan was for about a second at the most before your leg came through. The end result here, an interference penalty to Callahan, kind of ruins Sid’s whole argument that his small number of PIM somehow absolve him of all sin.
Regardless, the Rangers missed something like 15 shots and the Pens wound up winning the game, their seventh straight win, to tie Philadelphia atop the Atlantic Division.
