Meeting Jay Feaster, The Flames’ New General Manager

Our Flames blog, Matchsticks & Gasoline, has an in-depth profile of new team general manager Jay Feaster. Writer Arik James chronicles Feaster’s career, from his rise with the Tampa Bay Lightning to the dismantling of the 2004 Bolts’ Stanley Cup team, to his career as a columnist with The Hockey News.

He’s been a lightning rod (woo, puns!) at times, but he’s also risen to the pinnacle of the sport as an executive. Do Flames fans approve of their new Acting GM?

Jay Feaster is largely coming in as an unknown quantity. He’s clearly very intelligent, and by all accounts, very friendly and open with the media. However some of his trades can be questionable, and at other times he seems almost reluctant to do anything at all. What does this spell for the Flames? Hard to say- but as a stop-gap, I certainly have no problem with Jay Feaster in the GM chair.
