Officers Shot In St. Petersburg; Tampa Bay Lightning Indefinitely Postpone Monday Announcement

Two police officers and a United States Marshal have been shot while serving a warrant in St. Petersburg, FL, and out of respect, the Tampa Bay Lightning have indefinitely postponed a scheduled press conference.

Via the team:

The Tampa Bay Lightning’s press conference scheduled for this afternoon at the St. Pete Times Forum has been postponed indefinitely. Out of respect for those involved in an ongoing emergency situation in St. Petersburg today, the Lightning has elected not to move forward as previously scheduled.

The Lightning were expected to unveil new uniforms and a new logo at the event, with owner Jeff Vinik, general manager Steve Yzerman, CEO Tod Leiweke gathering with Martin St. Louis, Vincent Lecavalier, Steven Stamkos, Dave Andreychuk and Phil Esposito to make the announcement.

Obviously, the uniforms and the logo of the local hockey team are inconsequential on a day like today in St. Petersburg. Our thoughts go out to those injured.
