Martin Havlat of the Minnesota Wild has been named an injury replacement for the 2011 NHL All-Star Game, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie. He’s 26th in scoring with 43 points, including 13 goals and 30 points on the year.
2011 NHL All-Star Game: Martin Havlat Named Injury Replacement
Havlat’s the first injury replacement to be named to the All-Star squad. Danny Briere of the Flyers was named as a replacement late last week, but he’s replacing the healthy-but-unable-to-play Jarome Iginla.
Havlat, meanwhile, takes the spot of one of the four injured veteran players who won’t be going to Raleigh. Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Tobias Enstrom and Ales Hemsky are all skipping the game due to various injuries.
Rookie Jordan Eberle of the Edmonton Oilers is also skipping the weekend. He would have participated in the Skills Competition on Saturday night.
