2011 NHL All-Star Skills Competition: Zdeno Chara Breaks Hardest Shot Record With 105.9 MPH Blast

So uh, that Zdeno Chara has a pretty ridiculous shot, doesn’t he? On Saturday night at the 2011 NHL All-Star Skills Competition, Chara showed off his cannon yet again, ultimately beating his own record of 105.4 miles per hour, which he set in Montreal two years ago.

The new mark? 105.9 miles per hour.

Off the start, it didn’t look like Chara was going to have it in him. Up head-to-head with Nashville’s Shea Weber, Chara’s 104.1 mile per hour shot wasn’t enough to even beat Weber, who blasted a first round shot of 104.9

But in the final, where the two met again because they were the top two shooters in the prelims, Chara bested Weber -- and everybody else in history.

He talked about it after the game and our Bob Wage was there.
