The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins are two teams headed in opposite directions early in this season, and it's probably the exact opposite of what you'd expect. Led by hot play from former Bruin Phil Kessel and solid goaltending from James Reimer, the Leafs are riding high atop the Northeast Division, 4-0-1 through five games.

Phil Kessel and the Leafs look to continue their hot start against the struggling defending Cup champion Boston Bruins.
The defending Stanley Cup Champions, meanwhile, aren't doing nearly as well. After an embarrassing, fight-filled evening against the Carolina Hurricanes earlier this week, the Bruins sit outside of the playoff picture with a 2-4-0 record. Of course, it's early, but it's been a bad start for Claude Julien's bunch.
Boston could get David Krejci back into the lineup on Thursday night, which would be a huge boost to their offense. They could definitely use some contributions on defense, though, considering they're the only team in the NHL that's yet to get a goal from their blueline.
Toronto will be looking to rebound from a tough outing against Winnipeg, albeit a game that they were able to come-from-behind to win. The Leafs looked sluggish for most of the game against the Jets on Wednesday night before a few power play goals led to what was probably an undeserved shootout victory.
