Mike Green Injury: Capitals Defenseman Misses Practice Monday

Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green could miss Thursday’s game in Edmonton after suffering a twisted ankle Saturday. He has six points in seven games for the Caps this season.

Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green did not practice Monday after twisting his ankle during Saturday's win over the Detroit Red Wings. Green led the way during the victory, recording two goals and two assists. Unfortunately, it now appears he could miss some time with the injury. When asked if he will be ready for Thursday's game against the Edmonton Oilers, Green responded "we'll see."

Head coach Bruce Boudreau called Monday’s day off for Green a maintenance day, though it is somewhat odd that he would need additional rest after having Sunday off if there wasn’t some injury concern. Then again, considering Green’s production this season it’s not shocking that the team would be extra careful. He has six total points in seven games played this season.

“He’s OK. He had a couple bumps and bruises from the last game,” Boudreau said. “We just decided with a couple days of practice still available to us, there’s no sense rushing him.”

Thankfully, Green has three more days to recover before Thursday’s tilt in Edmonton.
