Ducks defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky will miss four weeks after suffering a broken finger, the team announced Saturday. Visnovsky suffered the injury after being struck by the puck late in the third period of Friday's 4-3 win over the Canucks. He will not need surgery.
Lubomir Visnovsky Suffers Broken Finger, Out Four Weeks

Visnovsky, 35, led all NHL defensemen with 68 points in 2010-11, including 18 goals. He’s off to a slow start this season, though, with just four points in 16 games, including one goal and a minus-7 plus/minus rating.
Ducks coach Randy Carlyle recently spoke with Visnovsky about his struggles, telling the veteran defenseman that he’s gambling too much looking for the big play.
“I think he’s attacking the blue line way, way too much,” Carlyle said earlier this week, according to the Orange County Register. “He’s taking too many chances. He’s trying to do too much and not letting the game develop and come to him. We’ve went over some of the examples of that.”
The message seems to have gotten through, as Visnovsky was plus-2 in Friday’s win. Whether Visnovsky can regain that momentum one month from now remains to be seen.
