Joel Ward may not be a household name around the NHL, but he did make a good impression on the Nashville Predators during the previous three seasons. But after a standout postseason in which he scored seven goals and had six assists in 12 games last year, he parlayed that into a new contract with the Washington Capitals with whom he now returns to Nashville for the first time.
Capitals Vs. Predators Preview: Game Time, TV Coverage And More
Joel Ward will play his first game in Nashville since leaving the Predators to sign with the Capitals.
So far, Ward has had a solid start. Through 15 games, he has four goals and three assists as the Capitals have gotten off to a fast start that has them atop the Southeast despite losses in their past two games.
The Predators don't seem to have missed Ward much, either, as they are currently in the midst of a run that has seen them lose just once in regulation and has them sitting just six points behind first-place Chicago in the Central Division. Goalie Pekka Rinne has been solid all along, going 8-4-3 with a 2.29 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.
Game Time: 8:00 p.m. ET
