The Flames defeated the Wild 5-1 Sunday, but the latter did their best to try and cool off the former.

The Calgary Flames defeated the Minnesota Wild 5-1 Sunday to snap a three-game losing streak and end a four-game road trip on a high note. Mark Giordano, Lee Stempniak, T.J. Brodie and Alex Tanguay scored the first four goals to give the Flames a comfortable lead, while captain Jarome Iginla capped the scoring with a deflection goal midway through the third period.

Iginla, whose 32 goals against the Wild are the most Minnesota has allowed to any player in franchise history, exchanged words with the home team’s bench on his way back to his and received a little bath for his trouble

The video says it was Cal Clutterbuck that sprayed the water in question, while according to the Star Tribune's Michael Russo, Calgary reporters thought it was Nick Johnson. Either way, the referees gave the Wild a two-minute bench minor for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The Flames’ victory Sunday was an important one as the current Northwest cellar dwellers defeated the division leaders, putting them on notice. Perhaps the Wild were just trying to tell the Flames to cool off?
