The New York Rangers won their fourth straight game while the Washington Capitals lost yet again, this time to their hated rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Penguins Vs. Capitals: Caps Struggle To Get Shots On Goal Under Dale Hunter

What was more concerning than the loss was the lack of offense. The Caps mustered only 17 shots on goal, tied for their lowest total of the season.
Through two games under Hunter, the Caps have only 36 shots on goal. They had 37 in their last victory, a 4-3 overtime win over the Winnipeg Jets last Wednesday. That isn’t to say that the Caps didn’t have several opportunities to score.

Getty ImagesUnder those circumstances last year, the Rangers would have folded the tents and gone away quietly. But this season’s version of the club has proven they are a much different team than in previous campaigns, better suited to handle adversity and apt to show resiliency in coming back.
Just under two minutes after scoring one of his own, Gaborik was the set up man for the next Rangers’ tally. Gaborik sent a pass from behind the ‘Canes cage to Avery at the right side of the slot, and he showed he can do more than agitate as he beat Ward for his third of the year to increase the lead to 4-2.
