Martin St. Louis Injury Update: Lightning Forward Returns To Practice

Martin St. Louis' gruesome injury — he took a puck to the face during a morning skate on December 8 — has cost him two weeks of the 2011-12 Tampa Bay Lightning season, but he's on the road back to playing. St. Louis practiced with the Lightning in San Jose on Tuesday, wearing a full mask, in his return to the ice after being hospitalized with a broken nose and a fractured orbital bone.

St. Louis’ recovery was also complicated by a blood clot that formed, as he could not participate in physical activity until it diminished.

There's still no timetable for St. Louis' return, but he has been cleared for activity since last Friday. The Lightning could use him: he's scored 22 points, including nine goals, in 27 games this season, and Tampa Bay is lagging in the Southeast Division, trailing the division-leading Florida Panthers by 12 points.
