The Stars found some more offense in the second period over the Chicago Blackhawks as they now lead 3-0 after two periods. Jamie Benn got the scoring started at 1:01 in the second period on a two on one chance. Mike Ribero and Brendan Morrow. Morrow scored 2:24 later in the period on pretty much the same scenario, a two on one breakaway, with assists from Jamie Benn and Mike Ribero. Goaltender Corey Crawford was pulled in favor of Marty Turco after the Stars third goal.
Blackhawks Vs. Stars: Stars Cruising With 3-0 Lead After Two Periods
The Stars outshot the Blackhawks 12-7 in the period and are now outshooting them 20-18 over the whole game. Crawford was pulled after making seven saves on ten shots in 23:35. Marty Turco has made the rest of the 10 saves in the period for Chicago. Kari Lehtonen is still pitching the shutout with 19 saves.
The hit discrepancy seen in the first period has disappeared as well. The Blackhawks registered 12 hits in the period and now the Stars are only outhitting Chicago 21-15 in the first two periods.
