Bruins’ Marc Savard Deals With Memory Troubles, According To Report

Out for the season following a concussion, the Boston Bruins' Marc Savard is experiencing memory trouble, according to a report by ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun. Savard is "quite worried about it," as he suffered two concussions in the span of less than a year.

The most recent one came on January 22 when the Colorado Avalanche's Matt Hunwick checked Savard into the boards. On February 7, Savard was officially declared out for the rest of the season. Savard has not made any decisions on his playing career yet.

Preventing head trauma for players should be of the utmost priority for the NHL, but even new rules to crackdown on hits won’t prevent accidents from happening. A real solution may be hard to come by.

Savard is not the only player to experience long-term issues with concussions this season. The Pittsburgh Penguins' Sidney Crosby suffered one on Jan. 5 and hasn't played since. However, he is back skating with the Penguins, though no timetable on his return has been set. The Montreal Canadiens' Max Pacioretty received a concussion following a hit by the Bruins' Zdeno Chara
