Penguins Vs. Lightning, Game 4: Pittsburgh’s James Neal Ends Game On Off-Angle Shot

Funny bounces and terrible angled shots are goals that usually end overtime games and this was the case as Pittsburgh’s James Neal shot the puck from near the wall and just beat Tampa’s Dwayne Roloson for the game winner after 83:38 of game play. Roloson had a clear view of the puck, but must have been startled or just not expecting the shot as the puck went in over the shoulder.

The Penguins started the game with the lead as Tyler Kennedy scored the Penguins first power play goal of the series at the 8:14 mark of the first period. Kennedy shot the puck through a crowd and the screened goaltender didn’t have much of a chance. In the second period, Pittsburgh extended their lead to 2-0 after Arron Asham shot found the back of the net.

The Lightning offense woke up at the end of the second period as Martin St. Louis rushed the net at the end of the second period and beat goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. In the third period, Sean Bergenheim scored with 3:17 left in the game to tie the game off a rebound in front of the net. Martin St. Louis recorded an assist on the goal, his second point of the night.

The Penguins consistently outshot the Lightning in the game and finished with a 53-31 advantage in shots on goal. Tampa’s Dwayne Roloson had 50 saves in the loss while Fleury had 29 saves in the win.

The Lightning will try to avoid being eliminated on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh. For more information on this game, please visit our Penguins site, Pensburgh, and our Lightning site, Raw Charge.
