Sharks Vs. Kings, Game 4: Penalty Killers Contribute To Scoreless First

The San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings have each had their chance to work with a 5 on 3 powerplay in the first period of their Game 4 matchup. Neither team was able to capitalize on it though as the game is still scoreless after completing the first period.

The Sharks had the first and best five on three powerplay in the first period after Dustin Brown and Matt Greene each went to the penalty box for slashing. The Sharks were on the five on three for 1:22 and while they couldn’t score on the two man advantage, they did generate a handful of shots on goal on Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick.

The Kings five on three powerplay was far shorter, a total of 13 seconds, but they did have their chance on an extended powerplay as Dan Boyle went off for hooking and Ian White went off for tripping. The Kings were able to generate some chances on the powerplay, but really didn’t get any good scoring chances on Antti Niemi.

The Sharks outshot the Kings 13-9 in the first period and both teams are looking to score that pivotal first goal in this game.
